We have reached the end of the fifth section in John 2-12, which begins with the sign of Jesus healing a man born blind. This sign points again to Jesus as the light of the world who shines into darkness of those who are willing to see. Before we go on this week to look at the next section, John 11:1 - 12:50, reflect today on a verse from each of the six passages which we have read in the past week:
“He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.” (9:11)
“One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see.” (9:25)
“Jesus said, ‘For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.’” (9:39)
“I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.” (10:9)
“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me.” (10:14)
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” (10:27)
