At God’s right hand
Read 1 Peter 3:22
.
The death (18) and resurrection of Jesus (21) were followed by his ascension and exaltation (22), the supreme demonstration of his triumph over sin and death (Ph.2:9-11; Rom.5:10). He has been raised to “the right hand of God” (Acts 2:32-33), showing that his saving work on earth is complete and that he now reigns with the Father as Lord over all (Mt.26:64; Acts 2:36; Heb.10:12).
.
His lordship extends to angels and all spiritual powers (Eph.1:20-21; Rom.8:38-39). “God has placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything” and he has done this “for the church” (Eph.1:22). The people of God live in the security of Jesus being their Lord. This is the reason why he died and rose again (Rom.14:9). It’s also the reason why as Christians we should “set apart Christ as Lord in our hearts” (3:15; Jn.20:28).
.
Since we have been raised with, we need to set our hearts and our minds “on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God” (Col.3:1-3; Eph.2:6; Heb.12:2). There he intercedes for us (Rom.8:34; Heb.7:25) and so we can always come to his throne of grace with confidence of finding his grace to help us in all our present trials (Heb.4:16).
